About Us

Located at 1646 West Galbraith Road, the North College Hill Fire Department proudly protects an area of 1.8 square miles with approximately 9,300 citizens and responds to approximately 2100 emergency medical and fire calls annually. Established originally as an all-volunteer department we have continued to expand our equipment and services to meet the needs of the community. Today, we operate out of one station with an all part-time staff consisting of a Fire Chief, two Deputy Chief's, six Lieutenants and 26 Firefighters. The daily on-shift staff consists of one Lieutenant, one Fire Apparatus Operator and two Firefighters. The Fire Chief and Deputy Chief supplement the on-shift staff working up to 24 and 16 hours per week respectively.

The station houses one combination aerial ladder/pumper (called a Quint), one combination engine/rescue, two ambulances, one first response/staff vehicle and one command vehicle. The department has an ISO rating of 3/9 and provides emergency medical services at the Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Level.

Fire prevention and education also play a major role in our service to the community. Each year the department performs fire safety inspections for over 200 commercial occupancies to ensure compliance with state and local codes. We also provide numerous fire safety presentations to our community's school aged children, offer training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and participate in other initiatives sponsored by the American Red Cross including the Vial-of-Life and Free Smoke Detector programs.

As the needs of the community have grown, so has the training of the members. Most of our members have taken additional advanced courses and have advanced certification in firefighting and fire safety inspection. In addition, other members have been certified as Hazardous Material Technicians and/or Basic Emergency Rescue Technicians.

The department takes pride in its ability to serve the needs of the community and is always looking for new ways to do so. Please feel free to contact us with concerns and/or suggestions or just stop by for a visit.
