Police Department Application Process
The North College Hill Police Department is looking for qualified candidates and is always accepting applications for employment with the police department.
Testing & Hiring Process for Police Officer Candidates
STEP ONE: Complete a police department application (available online at the bottom of this page) and return it to the police department Monday – Friday (8:00 am – 9:00 pm).
STEP TWO: Your application will be reviewed by members of the command staff to determine if you meet the minimum qualification standards to advance to step three.
STEP THREE: Provided you meet the minimum qualification standards, you will be contacted to participate in a panel interview with members of the North College Hill Police Department Command Staff.
STEP FOUR: Participation in a written examination. Applicants are required to score a minimum of 70% to advance to the next step.
STEP FIVE: Participate in a peer assessment interview with rank and file members of the police department.
STEP SIX: Voluntary participation in a background examination. Applicants will be required to complete a background questionnaire packet and department investigators will review the packet and contact personal references, educational institutions, current and former employers, and other items referenced in the packet.
STEP SEVEN: Investigators from the department will conduct an additional interview with the applicant and their family in their home.
STEP EIGHT: Applicants are required to take a truth verification examination (CVSA, Polygraph, etc.).
STEP NINE: Applicants will participate in a psychological examination to include aptitude and intelligence tests among others.
STEP TEN: Applicants will have a medical screening examination completed.
If candidate does not successfully pass any of the steps or fails to meet the minimum qualifications for that step, the candidate will be excluded from continuing in the hiring process.
Police applicants must be OPOTC certified or be able to be certified prior to appointment or hire date.
