What happens if I did not show proof of insurance at the time of the traffic stop and/or auto accident?
If you have been involved in an auto accident, you should try to have proof of insurance filed with the Police Department within 24 hours. If you are either paying a citation or appearing in court, you should bring proof of insurance to show at that time. If you do not provide valid proof of insurance, your information will be forwarded to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for immediate driver’s license suspension.
